Khalifa Haftar ha manifestado su oposición a la reciente decisión del Consejo Presidencial (PC) de nombrar una nueva dirección para el Banco Central de Libia (CBL). Haftar expresó su postura durante una reunión con Stephanie Koury, jefa interina de la Misión de Apoyo de las Naciones Unidas en Libia (UNSMIL).
La reunión en la oficina de Haftar en Rajma, Bengasi, se centró en la actual situación política en Libia y la actual crisis que rodea al CBL.
Según la oficina de prensa de Haftar, el primero enfatizó la importancia de preservar el CBL como una institución clave y destacó que las decisiones relativas a las posiciones soberanas, incluido el Gobernador del Banco, deben ser tomadas por órganos legítimos y constitucionales.
Haftar criticó lo que calificó de "acciones ilegales" tomadas por entidades que considera carentes de legitimidad, responsabilizándolas de las crisis que enfrenta el pueblo libio como consecuencia de estas decisiones.
El enviado de la ONU, Koury, reafirmó el compromiso de las Naciones Unidas de apoyar los esfuerzos para mantener el estatus y el crédito internacional del CBL. También destacó la importancia del consenso entre la Cámara de Representantes de Libia y el Alto Consejo de Estado sobre la posición del Gobernador del Banco Central.
La reunión concluyó con ambas partes acordando continuar las discusiones y consultas en el futuro.

Khalifa Haftar has conveyed his opposition to the recent decision by the Presidential Council (PC) to appoint new management for the Central Bank of Libya (CBL). Haftar expressed his stance during a meeting with Stephanie Koury, the Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
The meeting at Haftar's office in Rajma, Benghazi, focused on the current political situation in Libya and the ongoing crisis surrounding the CBL.
According to Haftar's media office, the former emphasized the importance of preserving the CBL as a key institution and stressed that decisions regarding sovereign positions, including the Bank's Governor, should be made by legitimate and constitutional bodies.
Haftar criticized what he described as "illegal actions" taken by entities he considers lacking in legitimacy, holding them responsible for the crises facing the Libyan people as a result of these decisions.
UN envoy Koury reaffirmed the United Nations' commitment to supporting efforts to maintain the CBL's status and international credit. She also highlighted the importance of consensus between Libya's House of Representatives and the High Council of State on the position of the Central Bank Governor.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to continue discussions and consultations in the future.
