El enviado especial de la ONU a Libia, Abdoulaye Bathily, ha advertido de que la reunión de miembros de la Cámara de Representantes y del Alto Consejo de Estado en Túnez no sustituye a un diálogo más amplio, con mayor participación y una agenda más integral.
En un mensaje dirigido a los participantes en Túnez, Bathily advirtió sobre las "consecuencias catastróficas" de las iniciativas unilaterales que buscan crear nuevas instituciones sin la cooperación y el consentimiento de todas las partes interesadas.
Señaló que es consciente de las diferentes opiniones sobre la reunión de Túnez: algunos la apoyan, otros son escépticos y otros la obstaculizan.
El funcionario de la ONU destacó la necesidad de reunir a todas las partes interesadas clave para resolver las cuestiones polémicas que obstaculizan el proceso electoral. Consideró que la reunión de Túnez no responde a esta ambición debido a su carácter bilateral y a las reservas expresadas por algunas partes.
Bathily reafirmó que la Misión de la ONU apoya todas las iniciativas para cerrar la brecha entre las partes libias, señalando que la Misión también es consciente de los riesgos asociados con la reproducción de soluciones que sólo son aceptables para algunos, ya que "en última instancia resultan inaplicables".
Bathily añadió que las iniciativas unilaterales han llevado a un caos indescriptible y a una trágica pérdida de vidas, y enfatizó la necesidad de comprometerse a no repetir nunca un escenario así en el futuro. Afirmó además que nunca apoyaría ningún curso de acción que condujera a más pérdidas de vidas en Libia.

The UN Special Envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, has warned that the meeting of members of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State in Tunis is not a substitute for a broader dialogue with greater participation and a more comprehensive agenda.
In a message addressed to the participants in Tunis, Bathily cautioned of the "catastrophic consequences" of unilateral initiatives seeking to create new institutions without the cooperation and consent of all stakeholders.
He noted that he is aware of the different opinions on the Tunis meeting, some supporting it, others sceptical, and others obstructing it.
The UN official stressed the need to bring all key stakeholders together to solve the contentious issues hindering the electoral process. He considered that the Tunis meeting does not meet this ambition due to its bilateral nature and the reservations expressed by some parties.
Bathily reaffirmed that the UN Mission supports all initiatives to bridge the gap between the Libyan parties, noting that the Mission is also aware of the risks associated with reproducing solutions that are only acceptable to some, as "they ultimately prove unimplementable."
Bathily added that unilateral initiatives have led to indescribable chaos and tragic loss of life, stressing the need to commit to never repeating such a scenario in the future. He further affirmed that he would never support any course of action that would lead to further loss of life in Libya.
