El enviado de la ONU, Abdoulaye Bathily, dijo que era lamentable que quienes hoy dirigen Libia se aferren a sus posiciones y se beneficien de la situación existente a expensas del pueblo libio, añadiendo en una declaración a Al-Hadath TV que la Cámara de Representantes y el Alto Consejo de Estado deben darse cuenta de que su tiempo ha terminado y que deben crear una situación política que permita el cambio y abordar la situación política actual.
Bathily añadió que los miembros de los dos consejos tardan en encontrar una solución y afirman que Gadafi permaneció en el poder durante más de 42 años, mientras que hoy lleva 10 años en el poder.
Señaló que la única solución que puede traer seguridad y prosperidad a Libia, y a la que aspiran los libios, es la formación de un gobierno nuevo y unificado que represente a todas las regiones, no un gobierno que se ponga del lado de un campo, región, o familia, al oeste o al este, sino más bien un gobierno para todos los libios.
También advirtió contra la formación de un gobierno similar al gobierno anterior de Fathi Bashagha, diciendo que la formación de la Cámara de Representantes por sí sola para este gobierno aumentó la intensidad del conflicto y la división, y que no servía a los intereses de los libios.
"Hoy en día ya no es aceptable que ninguna parte estipule su propia continuación de posiciones de poder porque eso alimentaría el conflicto o iniciaría la guerra, y es lamentable decir que esta posibilidad ya no está excluida en Libia hoy", dijo Bathily. destacando la necesidad de formar un nuevo gobierno.

The UN envoy added that the continuation of the current divisions threatens Libya’s unity and stability, and it is in the interest of Libyans, neighboring countries, and the region that this does not happen, calling on regional and international actors to urge the Libyan parties to assume their responsibilities and be courageous in order to go to the elections.
Regarding the situation in Derna, which was subjected to the flood disaster, Bathily said that this tragedy left thousands of victims and residents and they are still waiting for the reconstruction of their city on transparent and fair foundations, but the situation is not like that today and that has not been achieved yet.
