The most international Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria brings together triathletes from three continents in 2025
More than 45 PRO triathletes have confirmed their participation in the Gran Canaria event on 26 April in Anfi del Mar

The international triathlon Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria reaffirms its international character by exceeding twenty nationalities from three continents for its ninth edition this April 26th in Anfi del Mar. The only international triathlon in Gran Canaria and the Challenge world circuit event with the most PRO triathletes has brought together more than 420 athletes at the start line, and is already finalising details to open the season in Europe.
Local triathletes will not miss this event, who will have the privilege of competing with professionals and amateurs of this sport from around twenty corners of the planet. The Spanish triathletes stand out, although they are closely followed by the British competitors, who once again this year are one of the nationalities with the largest number of participants. The triathletes from Great Britain have once again chosen Gran Canaria as their favourite destination to kick off the world calendar in Europe, in an event in which they will have to face rivals from halfway around the world.
Among the most numerous nationalities, there are also German, French, Belgian, Dutch, Norwegian, Swiss, Swedish and Italian triathletes, making up an international edition with representatives from Poland, Portugal, Denmark, Finland, Serbia, Ireland and the Czech Republic. The Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria is stepping up the pace for its ninth edition, with triathletes also coming from the United States and South Africa, among other nationalities.
More than 400 participants
This April 26th, Gran Canaria will be the centre of attention and the triathletes' annual calendar contact, marking the pulse of the season in a race that has become a must for the sport's biggest stars. With calm waters, safe roads and a run course by the sea, the year-round summer temperature is not only a guarantee to train and compete 365 days a year, but also calls every year hundreds of triathletes from all over the planet who do not miss their appointment in Anfi del Mar.
In this 2025 edition, there are already more than 420 triathletes confirmed in its three modalities of middle distance, short distance and relays. The main event is once again the middle distance, a challenge of 1.9 kilometres swimming, 90 kilometres cycling and 21 kilometres running, which has already confirmed names such as Jonathan Brownlee, Andres Dreitz, Sam Wordley; the Spanish Sergio López, Diego Martín, Gonzalo Fuentes, Joan Reixarch, Ander Segurola; the French triathlete Corentin Chouvelon; the number two in Portugal, Joao Pereira, who remains faithful to this international opening in Gran Canaria.
The young triathlete from South Africa Matt Kaminer, who fights from the national number 8; the top 10 in the Netherlands, Heleen Moes; the number one in Portugal, Vanessa Pereira; as well as Julia Skala, the local PRO Zaira Lorenzo, the British Ben Akin, and the 2024 champion Marta Lagow have also confirmed their place.
The most frenetic modality of the circuit, the short distance, already has its ranks almost full for the 26th of April, with a challenge of 1.9 kilometres swim, 40 kilometres bike and 10 kilometres run.
Throughout its history in the Canary Islands, the Challenge has welcomed triathlon icons such as Patrick Lange, Sam Laidlow, Aaron Royle, Florian Angert, Pieter Heemeryck, Andy Dreitz, Anne Haug, Jan Frodeno, Alistair Brownlee, Emma Pallant, Nicola Spirig, Lisa Norden, Pabla Dapena, Iván Raña, Sara Pérez Sala or Judith Corachán among other greats.
Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria is the only international triathlon in Gran Canaria, within the Challenge Family network, made possible with the support of the Mogán Town Hall, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through Turismo Gran Canaria and the Instituto Insular de Deportes, and with the collaboration of the Government of the Canary Islands with Turismo Islas Canarias and its Department of Territorial Policy, Sustainability and Emergencies, as well as the Canary Islands Triathlon Federation (Fecantri), Gran Canaria Tri Bike Run, Bike Sensations, Cádomotus, The Market Puerto Rico, and aquaBona, among others.
