El presidente de la Comisión de la Unión Africana condena el asesinato del político libio Saïf al-Islam Gadafi

Mahmoud Ali Youssouf insta a las autoridades libias a que respeten el Estado de derecho y garanticen que las circunstancias de este asesinato se investiguen exhaustivamente

Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, presidente de la Comisión de la Unión Africana, ha recibido con profunda preocupación las noticias sobre el asesinato del político libio Saïf al-Islam Gadafi, ocurrido el pasado 3 de febrero de 2026 en la ciudad de Zintan.

El presidente condena enérgicamente este acto violento, que amenaza con socavar aún más los esfuerzos por lograr una transición política creíble e inclusiva en Libia.

El presidente expresa sus condolencias a la familia del fallecido, así como a todos los afectados por este incidente, y recuerda la importancia de resolver las diferencias políticas por medios pacíficos y legítimos.

Mahmoud Ali Youssouf insta a las autoridades libias a que respeten el Estado de derecho y garanticen que las circunstancias de este asesinato se investiguen exhaustivamente y que los responsables rindan cuentas conforme a la ley.

El presidente insta además a la moderación y la calma entre todos los actores políticos libios y reitera el compromiso constante de la Unión Africana de apoyar al pueblo 

y las instituciones libios en sus esfuerzos por lograr una solución duradera, consensuada y pacífica a la crisis política y de seguridad que afecta al país desde 2011.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission condemns the assassination of Libyan politician Saif al-Islam Gaddafi.

Mahmoud Ali Youssouf urges Libyan authorities to respect the rule of law and ensure a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this assassination.

Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, has received with deep concern the news of the assassination of Libyan politician Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, which occurred on February 3, 2026, in the city of Zintan.

The Chairperson strongly condemns this violent act, which threatens to further undermine efforts to achieve a credible and inclusive political transition in Libya.

The Chairperson expresses his condolences to the family of the deceased, as well as to all those affected by this incident, and reiterates the importance of resolving political differences through peaceful and legitimate means.

Mahmoud Ali Youssouf urges Libyan authorities to respect the rule of law and ensure that the circumstances of this assassination are thoroughly investigated and that those responsible are held accountable under the law.

The President also calls for restraint and calm among all Libyan political actors and reiterates the African Union’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Libyan people and institutions in their efforts to achieve a solution.
